Tech Incubation Program for Startup (TIPS)

KISED selects an accelerator with the capability of angel investment and incubation to be a TIPS operator. We provide governmental financial support for R&D and commercialization for promising startups discovered by the investment of TIPS operators.

Summary

Eligibility                             

(Pre-TIPS) Early-Stage startups pursuant to Article 2 of the Support for Small and Medium Enterprise Establishment Act, consisting of two or more people, not more than three years from the date of commencement of business

*Attracted more than KRW 10 million from investors (TIPs operators, accelerators, individual investment association) within one year from the filing due date


(TIPS) Pre-startup (teams*) pursuant to Article 2 of the Framework Act on Small & Medium Enterprises,

consisting of two or more people, not more than seven years from the date of commencement of business
 *If you wish to start a business while belonging to an institution (university, research institution,etc.) or a company, you can apply for business
  without  registering as a corporation. (However, you must incorporate after the final selection)

(Post-TIPS) Among the companies judged as “successful” based on the final evaluation of TIPs graduates that have attracted more than 1 billion won of subsequent private investments

*TIPs Program Success Criteria: (when at least one of the following is achieved)

1) Annual Sales over KRW 1 billion,

2) Annual export amount of USD 500K or more,

3) More than 20 full-time employees,

4) Attracting follow-up investments (average investment in recent 3 years)

5) M&A (over KRW 1 billion)

6) IPOs in KOSDAQ (including KONEX)

Type of Support
Startup Commercialization

Provide funds to cover the cost of production of prototypes, purchase of equipment, procurement of intellectual property rights and test certifications up to KRW 100 million

Overseas Marketing

Provide financial support for global marketing, overseas exhibitions, incorporation, obtaining local -permits, and etc. up to KRW 100 million

Post-TIPS

Provide financial support for follow-up commercialization for the elevation of business by 500 million KRW (for 2 years)

679 startup teams were supported from 2013 to 2018 as of May, 2019
